Designed as a reusable Type A Package to the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material.
Certified as a Type A package for the transportation of gaseous isotopes.
The package design consists of a Containment Vessel (CV) Design No 3022. The 3022 CV is manufactured from a 300 cc gas bottle with 15 mm of lead shielding, a stainless steel plug attached to a bellows sealed valve and ¼” VCO connection. The CV sits in the ‘Inner Assembly’ Design No 3027. The Inner Assembly consists of an anodized aluminium containment vessel, which when assembled forms a secondary containment boundary with a single EPDM seal. The Inner Assembly also provides additional shielding in the form of a lead lid in the Upper Body and a test point plug that allows for sampling of the gas in the cavity. The Inner Assembly sits in an impact limiter foam set within a stainless steel drum Design No 3919.
The containment system comprises of two independent barriers. Primary containment is provided by the inner CV design No 3022 and secondary containment is provided by the Inner Assembly Design No 3027.
