Further to the award last year of a contract by Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) for the supply, manufacture, testing and re-licensing of Safkegs, Croft Associates has announced that it has now been awarded further orders. The orders cover additional Safkegs; these are Croft standard packages that meet the Type B fissile requirements of the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material. The orders also include ancillary equipment and services relating to the intended transport of Safkegs by DSRL.

Clive Beattie, CEO at Croft, said: “We are very pleased to have been recognised once again by DSRL and to have received these follow-on orders. It is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team and the levels of service provided to DSRL in fulfilling the initial order. The Safkegs underpin a critical project in the clean-up of Dounreay and our ability to deliver high quality, innovative products and services on time and within budget was essential in securing these awards. We expect to fulfil the orders within the next 12 months.”

“The Safkegs have been a workhorse to the nuclear industry which Croft has been supplying for over 30 years. They have multiple uses and have been proven to meet the requirements beyond that expected of the regulations, affording significant levels of safety not only for the operators but also for members of the public, which is paramount in the design of containers that will be transported in the public domain.”
