Croft has developed replacement packaging for the US DOT Spec 6M and 20WC and is contracted to the Missouri University Research Reactor to provide a fleet of these Type B(U) radioactive material shipping containers.
Testing of the 6M replacement, known as the Croft Safkeg-LS, has successfully been completed. Tests were conducted for normal conditions of transport and for potential accident conditions. There were negligible effects on the exterior assembly and containment was maintained. All results were within the parameters necessary for regulatory compliance.
The 20WC replacement, known as the Croft Safkeg-HS, is now being subjected to a similar series of tests.
