December 2009: Croft Application for New Type B (U) Packaging Design Under Review by United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
Abingdon, United Kingdom, December 17, 2009 – Croft Associates Limited (Croft) announces that their new design packaging is under review by the NRC. This Type B (U) packaging, the Safkeg-LS Design Number 3979A, is a replacement for the US DOT Spec 6M packaging that ceased to be authorised on October 1, 2008. It is designed to meet most of the needs of those wishing to replace the 6M and Croft is under contract to supply a fleet of the Safkeg-LS to the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR). September 2009: Exhibitions and Conferences

July 2009: Supply of 20 off Type A Packaging to the European Commisson
A batch of 20 of the new Croft design 3975A containers has been supplied to the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport – see contract award notice 2008/S 205-271733. This container is designed as a reusable Type A package to the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material No TS-R-1 2005. It has been licensed by Croft Associates Limited as a general purpose Type A package, which is generally used for the carriage of radionuclides and samples in solid or liquid form. June 2009: Testing Complete for Croft Safkeg-LS – The 6M Replacement Container
Croft has developed replacement packaging for the US DOT Spec 6M and 20WC and is contracted to the Missouri University Research Reactor to provide a fleet of these Type B(U) radioactive material shipping containers. Read "Testing Complete" article here
May 2009: Design, Testing and Licensing of the IP 2m Box for Intermediate Level Waste Storage and Disposal
Croft was contracted by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), Winfrith in 2006 to design, manufacture, test and license an Intermediate Level Waste IP transport packaging (2m Box Design No 3954) for decommissioning waste from the Dragon and SGHWR reactors at Winfrith. The package had to meet the requirements of the existing Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) 2m Box specification. The 2m Box was designed and tested to meet the requirements for an IP-2 package design as a freight container. Read "IP 2M Bo"x article here
May 2009: Low Level Waste Disposal IP-2 Package Containing Plutonium Contaminated Slag Pots
Croft Associates were approached by PC Richardson to carry out the licensing of an IP2 package containing Plutonium contaminated slag pots. This project provided several unique challenges for all those involved. Croft Associates Limited, (Croft) announces that it has contracted with the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) to provide a fleet of Type B(U) radioactive material (RAM) shipping containers to MURR. Croft will design and manufacture replacements to the DOT Spec 6M and Spec 20WC portion of the MURR RAM shipping container fleet. As RAM shippers know, the authorized use of these (and other DOT Spec packaging) ceases on October 1, 2008. Read "Type B(U) Radioactive material Shipping Containers" article here
